Babylon Uses Cannabis Tax Revenues Wisely

The Town of Babylon - one of the few municipalities on Long Island to allow the sale of cannabis via dispensaries - has received its first payment of $1.16 million, representing its share of tax revenues from two Farmingdale stores.

Babylon is putting those funds to good use and funding prevention and treatment services by expanding its Beacon Family Wellness Center to a second location.

That's laudable and will help address the increase in cannabis use among young people that has skyrocketed since New York legalized marijuana possession and sales for adults a few years ago.

I chatted with Newsday about Babylon's move and also shared my thoughts with Fox 5 and WCBS-TV.
